Oak Meadow Sustainable Housing

An example of Gale & Snowden Architects working with community organisations and applying environmental management measures in performing contracts.

The sustainable housing development at Oak Meadow designated to provide 35 affordable homes for rent for local people in the South Molten area.

North Devon District Council recommended Gale & Snowden as the architects for the project.  The project included extensive community consultation.

This project has won several sustainable construction awards including The Mail National Home Builder Design Awards 2005 for Best Social Housing Development, and the Building Magazine Sustainability Awards 2005 Sustainable Development of the Year.

It was also featured on Building Britain in June 2007, where it was highlighted as being a leading example in the South West of what environmentally sustainable buildings can be like.
